The Deal?

Certainly not an official source, but here are the bullet points floating around Atlanta:

Our #1 guy at 1000. top half of our CA's ratio'd in with SWA CA's.
The next half of our CA's get ratio'd in with top SWA F/O's.
The top 150 of our F/O's get ratio'd in with bottom SWA F/O's.
The remaining 650 AAI F/O's
Post-9/27 new-hires DOH

- Super seniority in Atlanta (until 2023?)
- No Bump/Flush
- Furlough provisions (4:1?)
- As FL Captains pilots retire, FL FO's upgrade
- SWA contract takes effect June 2012

Looks pretty good to me.  Hope the MEC lets us vote soon!

MEC convulsing?

I won't repeat the rumors about what is going on at ALPA, but I will say that they are disturbing and I'm starting to get worried.  I do have faith that our elected officials will do their duty.  Hope I'm not in denial.

Merger Committee Sequestered?

No idea what to think right now.  The MEC is meeting with our lawyers and specifically excluding our MC.  The MC was going to Dallas to finalize language, but instead is on ice ...

How do you spell "Dis - Function"?

I can only hope tomorrow's news makes sense of these developments.  As it stands, I can't make sense of this.

ISL Rumors

Lots of rumors.  Some good, some not so good.  The honest truth is I am bouncing off of the walls.  I trust our MC 110% and I am ready to move on.

Starting a trip tomorrow and starting to feel like a real Southwest Airlines pilot!  Thanks for the hard work guys!

Hip hip horray?

Fellow Pilots,

This afternoon, the AirTran Merger Committee (MC) reached an agreement-in-principle with SWAPA and Southwest Airlines on a seniority list integration and transition agreement.

This agreement will be presented to the ATN ALPA Master Executive Council for their consideration in the near future. If this agreement is approved by the MEC, it will be presented to the membership for ratification.

The MC will be working in the coming days to translate the current agreement into a full-language document. This will require a great deal of work, and your patience is appreciated as they develop a comprehensive presentation for the MEC and the pilots of AirTran Airways.

The Merger Committee believes that this a fair agreement that provides career protection for AirTran pilots, as well as significant economic gains.

In unity,

Your ATN Master Executive Council

For those that are interested

I just found out that the SouthWest Merger Committee has a twitter account:

http://twitter.com/SWAPA_NC

Interesting to see what the other side is thinking and how they communicate.  Apparently their is even an iphone app put out by their union for their pilots!  Cool!

Holy Cow!

The AirTran ALPA Merger Committee (MC) met in Dallas today with their counterparts from SWAPA and members of the Southwest Airlines leadership team, which presented a comprehensive seniority list proposal and transition plan.

Am I reading this correctly?  Gary Kelly made an SLI proposal?  I'm pretty sure this has never happened.  What was the offer?  Some of our senior guys think Southwest is going to offer a bunch of money to their pilots to get the deal done.

Meeting in Dallas today?

The rumor mill is churning about the MC meeting in Dallas today.  Some of the guys are saying that Southwest management was gonna knock heads, maybe offer some money to get this deal done.  Waiting for official information ....

FedEx package arrived yesterday

I shut this site down months ago at Jim's request.  In the mean time the usual suspects have been on the web boards making trouble.  It just doesn't seem right that the only AirTran voices being heard are the same 12 angry men.  Frankly I'm sick of all the negativity.  Becoming Southwest pilots is a good deal, no scratch that a GREAT deal for us!  I'm not going to pretend not to be excited anymore.

Adding to that excitement is a FedEx package sent to my home yesterday.  It is from both Southwest and SWAPA.  Not only is it a breath of fresh air to see management and a union working together, but it is REALLY well done.  Individually tailored and easy to understand it spells what life as a Southwest pilot will be like.

I understand those who are concerned about being treated fairly; isn't that the Southwest way?  Citrus is my past, and I'm proud of that, but Southwest is our future.
